Growing up my sisters and I would spend summers away in Chicago visiting Grandma. Besides the trips to Frank’s Nursery to gaze dreamily at all of the dollhouses and the magical walks through the Bahai Temple gardens, my favorite part of those summers away was sending letters back and forth to our mom on our homemade stationery. Those letters were the beginning of my love of both the art of story telling and the art of keeping in touch.

I remember a book I read as a child, With Love From Gran, a tale of all of the gifts a young boy received from his gran’s travels around the world. SugarMama is just like that gran.

“Who is SugarMama?,” you ask. Only the most fabulous grandmother of them all. Having successfully raised three fabulous daughters (I being the favorite and most fabulous—it’s ok for me to say, the others agree), SugarMama travels the world often accompanied by the ever inspiring ladies of the Viva Reading Circle, sending postcards and gifts to her daughters and grand daughters, affectionately known as her Sugar Babies.

I view all of my life experiences in vivid color, with magic and whimsy. Letters from SugarMama is my opportunity to share my vision and the art of keeping in touch with the world.
